The aim of the College Collaboration Fund was to research and identify best practice sector-wide, to support retention and progression for students studying from Level 2 into Level 3. The colleges collaborating on this project were Activate Learning, Bournemouth and Poole College and Newbury College.

“Colleges are deeply embedded in the local community, so they are key in bridging the digital divide and creating the skilled workforce local employers are looking for.”

Student retention and progression are crucial to the long-term success of a Further Education (FE) college but they are also an important factor used to measure performance and increase funding.

Objectives

  • Identify successful methods for retaining and progressing Level 2 students, including identification of common issues and pressures.
  • Collaboratively develop toolkits of guidance and resources to implement rapid and effective actions for retention and progression.
  • Provide project research reports to share with colleges nationwide

The toolkits and reports developed as an output of this project are available to download entitled Staying the Course for retention and Perfect Progression for progression.
