During snow or other adverse weather or other extreme circumstances, it is Newbury College’s policy to remain open so that we can continue to support our students. However, in the event of extreme conditions it may be necessary to close our facilities.
Any decision to close the main site will be made by the Principal, or Senior Management Team (SMT) in their absence, and an announcement made on the Newbury College website and through local radio (The Breeze Newbury, Heart Thames Valley and BBC Radio Berkshire).
Any decision to cancel a class will be made by the Curriculum Manager who will in all cases seek agreement from the Principal/SMT in his/her absence.
During adverse conditions in which classes are cancelled or a student/lecturer is unable to attend, students should be able to access alternative lesson resources online via Moodle to work independently from the LRC or from home.
Students and staff are expected to use their own discretion regarding travel during adverse conditions and circumstances as travel conditions may vary widely within any given geographic area. Please leave extra time and take extra care when travelling to and from College.
Students who are unable to attend College due to the weather should call or text the Attendance Hotline.
Staff should contact their Line Manager and HR (01635 845238) in the event of absence or delayed arrival.
There are a number of ways you can stay up-to-date with the latest news and closure information about Newbury College.
