The Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training is an ideal qualification for those in the exercise and fitness sector who wish to complement their existing skills. Learners must have achieved the Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing before they enrol on this qualification. The qualification aims to provide learners with the understanding and practical skills needed to work as a Personal Trainer in a variety of settings. This includes understanding health and safety in a fitness environment, customer service, anatomy and physiology, personal training programmes and sessions, and nutrition. Learners successfully completing this qualification will be able to gain access to the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) at level 3.
To be awarded the Level 3 Certificate in Personal Training, learners are required to successfully complete 7 mandatory units
Know how to support clients who take part in exercise and physical activity Health, safety and welfare in a fitness environment Principles of exercise, fitness and health Anatomy and physiology for exercise and health Programming personal training with clients Delivering personal training sessions Applying the principles of nutrition to a physical activity programme
There are no formal entry requirements for this programme but due to the level of qualification it is expected that learners hold a L2 qualification in English and maths. This qualification is designed for those who are seeking to develop advanced skills and knowledge in fitness instructing and for those seeking employment in the sector. It is not an college requirement that learners must have achieved the Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing qualification before enrolling on this qualification; however, if you wish to gain entry onto the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPS), completion of the Level 2 Certificate in Fitness Instructing qualification is mandatory.
Level 3 Certiicate in Personal Training
Learners will be expected to prove competence in all units in order to achieve. This can be gained through a range of assessment methods from tests, assignments, presentations and practical activities
Learners will be expected to complete work outside of class time. This will vary in time spent but will be approximately 6-10 hours per week
It is anticipated that learners will already be working within the industry in a paid or voluntary position. This will support their access to a range of clientele who will be able to support their evidence collection
Learners who achieve this qualification could progress to: Level 3 Certificate in Leisure Management Level 3 Award in Adapting Physical Activity for Antenatal and Postnatal Clients any other Level 3 qualification in the Health and Fitness Industry Level 4 HNC Diploma in Sport Level 4 HNC Diploma in Sport and Exercise Sciences This qualification offers entry onto the Register of Exercise Professionals (REPs) and progression into employment as a Fitness Instructor.
Fees and Additional Costs
If you are over 18 there will be a registration fee of £90.00 if you have not previously registered with the exam board. in addition to tuition fees learners may need to register with the awarding body. They may also wish to pay a subscription to a professional body
