Overview

This professional qualification is for those working in, or wishing to work within electrical/electronic engineering. It is a day release course which provides a nationally-recognised qualification that offers career progression for those already in employment. The qualification provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required by the sector with national recognition by employers. The course is delivered on a day-release basis over one year.

A professional electronics CAD software package (Proteus) is used in many of the subjects to give students the opportunity to explore circuit action by highly visual simulation, before testing the real thing. In digital electronics students use modern Programmable Logic Devices to implement and test their designs.

The Project/Engineering Design unit gives students an opportunity to design and implement a solution to an engineering problem of special interest to them.

Three A Levels at grade C or above; or two A Levels at grade C; or a BTEC Diploma at PPP; or a BTEC Certificate at MP; or equivalent. Students must attend an interview. Mature students are welcome.
