Overview

This one-year course consists of theory and practical tasks which introduce students to the skills and techniques used in the plumbing industry.

Units range from: Structure of the construction industry Fundamental safe working practices Environmental and sustainability measures in domestic dwellings Site preparation for working in the construction industry Copper pipework Plastic pressure pipework Low carbon steel pipework Installation, repair and maintenance of plumbing systems Plumbing science

Entry Requirements

Four GCSE passes at grade 3 or above, preferably including Maths and English, a vocational qualification at pass or above, and Functional Skills Maths and English preferably at Entry Level 3.

The course is continuously assessed by both practical and written assignments and controlled assessment exams.

Skills

No previous experience is required, as this course will train you to use basic hand tools and work safely within a plumbing environment.

Diploma in Plumbing Studies Level 1

The course is continuously assessed by both practical and written assignments and exams.

Home Study

Some homework may be set to assist the completion of some of the theory units.

Work Placement

Students will undertake a short work placement as part of their course.

Progression

Level 2 Plumbing, employment or an apprenticeship.

Fees and Additional Costs

Students are required to purchase their own steel toe-cap boots to be worn during workshop based lessons.
