Overview

This qualification enables you, the learner, to demonstrate and recognise your skills, knowledge and understanding so you can work as a Site Carpenter within the construction industry.

The Level 2 Diploma in Site Carpentry (Construction) qualification has been developed for delivery in a training environment; this means that you do not need to be employed to study this qualification. It has been designed to develop your skills, knowledge and understanding so you can work in Site Carpentry in the construction industry or progress to further training.

-Health, safety and welfare in construction and associated industries -Prepare and use carpentry and joinery portable power tools -Understanding information, quantities and communication with others -Understanding construction technology -Carry out first fixing operations -Carry out second fixing operations -Carry out structural carcassing operations -Carry out maintenance to non-structural carpentry work.

Entry Requirements

Level 1 Certificate or Diploma in Carpentry & Joinery. Five GCSE passes at grade 4 or above, preferably including Maths and English, or Functional Skills Maths and English at Level 1.

Students who have not yet achieved grade 4 in GCSE Maths and English, will study Functional Skills or GCSE Maths and English as part of their course.

Skills

Students benefit from having completed the Level 1 Carpentry course. a natural ability to work with their hands and the ability to use their own initiative.

Qualifications

Diploma in Site Carpentry (Construction) Level 2

Assessment

All units in this qualification are mandatory and learners must attain at least a pass in each unit in order to achieve the overall qualification. Achievement of this qualification will be assessed via a combination of knowledge testing and practical assessments that can be combined for synoptic delivery.

Home Study

You will be required to undertake some self-study in your own time of around 2-3 hours per week.

Work Placement

A work placement will be organised and undertaken as part of the Level 2 Diploma in Carpentry.

Apprenticeship or level 3 Diploma in site Carpentry

Fees and Additional Costs

There may be a small cost to purchase a textbook which will aid you in passing your theory exams. You will need suitable work wear and safety footwear which will be explained by your teacher.
