This assessor qualification is suitable for those who want to be able to assess learner competence in the workplace and their knowledge regarding their vocational area. There are flexible start dates for this programme.
To gain the Certificate students need to complete three units. Students learn about the principles and practices of the assessment process and are guided through good practice with regard to assessment and the different assessment methods. Students need to have access to two learners to assess in a real work environment. Students must be able to prove occupational competence and produce a clear CPD record.
Students must be vocationally qualified and able to provide relevant CPD records showing experience in the field of expertise. Students must be over 19 years of age and working as a trainee assessor. Any work assessed will need to be countersigned by a qualified assessor.
It will be of great benefit if students are organised, calm and patient.
Level 3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement
This is a very flexible qualification and can be assessed using many assessment methods such as: observation, discussion, written evidence, reflective accounts, work products, question and answers, witness statement, RPL, scenarios and activity plans.
This qualification is designed to complement students' current work life. They may need to spend up to two hours a week whilst on program outside of normal working hours to complete this qualification.
Students must have access to two learners who are studying a vocational qualification.
Once this qualification is completed students can work as a fully-qualified assessor in a variety of education and training settings. To go into further training, students may want to consider the L3 Award in education and training or the L4 Internal Quality Assurance suite of qualifications.
Fees and Additional Costs
If you are over 18 there will be a registration fee of £90.00 if you have not previously registered with the exam board. There may be ESF funding available for this qualification. Please speak to a member of staff to establish if you are eligible. A registration fee of approximately £70 is payable regardless of funding status.
