Overview

This apprenticeship develops skills in standard accounting and tax practices.

Typical roles are Assistant Management Accountant, Senior Bookkeeper, Business Tax Assistant

It covers the development of skills in:

  • preparation of management and final accounts
  • validating and reporting financial information
  • understanding legal regulations
  • evaluating financial systems
  • applying relevant Ethical Standards

Entry Requirements

Apprentices are required to have a Level 3 Accounting qualification plus GCSE Mathematics and English at Grade 4 / C or above or Functional Skills Level 2 obtained within the past two years.

Skills

Apprentices will need to be working in Accounting to allow them to meet the rigours of the qualification.

Qualifications

Professional Accountancy Technician Level 4 Apprenticeship

Assessment

On-programme assessment will take place throughout the programme using workbased assignments and exams including the AAT Professional Accountancy Level 4 Certificate. End point assessment includes a portfolio of evidence using practical experience in the workplace and a role simulation tackling a series of business related tasks.

Home Study

Apprentices will be required to meet target dates for completion of work set by their assessor throughout the programme; this will require some work to be completed in their own time.

Work Placement

Apprentices need to be employed for a minimum of 30 hours per week, with an employer who is willing to support them through the apprenticeship. For those not currently in suitable employment, Newbury College can provide a list of current apprenticeship vacancies.

Progression

Achievement of this apprenticeship could lead to progression onto other higher education qualifications including Degree Apprenticeships and professional qualifications.

Fees and Additional Costs

Associate Membership of AAT is required.

Additional Information

Apprentices will spend time attending classes at the college, typically delivered one day or evening per week in term time.
