This qualification will give you the skills to be able to apply and remove the gel polish on hands or feet. You will learn how to apply and cure this correctly. It will also show you how to remove manually or chemical removal. You will be required to do a light, dark and French polish for this qualification.

This qualification also covers the skills and knowledge required to prepare for the service and maintain effective health, safety and hygiene working practices throughout the treatment.

Students are assessed through a combination of assignments, practical work. Students will produce a portfolio of work which is assessed against the grading criteria for the units. Assignments are set on Moodle, Newbury College's online learning environment and will have an agreed submission date. In addition to portfolio work, some units may also include externally marked assessment material, sat under controlled conditions.

Home Study

Homework will be set via Moodle, Newbury College's online learning platform. Students are expected to allocate approximately 3 hours a week on research and homework outside of normal class time in order to build up knowledge, confidence and successfully complete the programme. This may be completed at home, in the workplace or in the Learning Resource Centre.

Work Placement

Work placement is not required for this programme.


Level 2 and 3 beauty, nail art and nail technology.

Fees and Additional Costs

If you are over 18 there will be a registration fee of £50.00 if you have not previously registered with the exam board. None. All cost has been included in the course fees.
