Course Fees
- Course fees quoted with the course information are for the current academic year (2009/10). Fees for the academic year starting September 2010 are subject to change and will be confirmed in May 2010.
Fee Concessions for Residents of the UK, or of a Member State of the EU
In all cases where a full waiver of, or reduction in, tuition fees is being claimed, the learner must produce supporting documentary evidence upon enrolment.
- Learners working towards a recognised Basic Skills Course pay NO FEES for their basic skills course.
- All learners pay fees on HNC, HND and Foundation Degree full-time and part-time courses. UK residents may be eligible to apply to their Local Education Authority for assistance.
- Learners who are sponsored by their employer are not entitled to any fee concessions. See our Part Time Courses Guide for details.
Concessions Available for Courses Leading to Any Other Qualification:
Learners aged 16-18:
Learners aged 16-18 at the Start of an approved Course do not pay tuition fees, examination fees, registration fees, or any College fees. They do have to pay other costs (eg: materials, equipment, uniform, books, visits etc).
Learners Aged 19 and over:
Learners Aged 19 and over pay tuition fees, exam, registration fees, books and the cost of any materials eg equipment and uniforms, visits etc and a College fee of £15, The stated tutition fees apply to each year of the programme and are subject to review for the next academic year. Some learners may be entitled to an LSC Approved concession, in which case tuition fees only may be waived (see Concessions below).
The fees for a full time course will be quoted as a fee for the first year, second and subsequent years also have fees which are available at the time of enrolment.
Fees for part-time courses vary according to the length and type of qualification.
Part Time course fees relate to year 1 course fees only. Two year courses will have an additional course fee for the second year; these fees are subject to confirmation in May 2010.
Concessions:
If you are aged 19+ you do not pay any tuition fees if you receive one of the following benefits:
- Jobseekers Allowance
- Income Support
- Housing Benefit
- Pension Tax Credit
- Council Tax Credit
- Working Tax Credit
Or if you enrol for a Level 2 Qualification, and do not already have a full Level 2 qualification.
Or if you are an officially recognised:
- Refugee
- Asylum Seeker
However, Learners in the above categories do have to pay examination fees, registration fees and other fees associated with their course.

International Students
Please enquire at Learner Services for current fees if your normal place of residence is not in the UK or in a member state of the EU/EEA.
Courses subsidised by West Berkshire Council:
Most of our part time courses which do not lead to a formal qualification are subsidised by West Berks LEA. You can claim a discount of 50% in the
tuition fees for an LEA funded course if you receive one of the following benefits:
- Jobseekers Allowance
- Income Support
- Housing Benefit
- Pension Tax Credit
- Council Tax Credit
- Working Tax Credit
- Registered carer of an adult with severe learning disabilities or difficulties and are accompanying your dependant on a course.
A discount of 30% in the tution fees is available to learners aged 60 and over, and who are resident in the West Berkshire Council area.
