Newbury Colleges Art Design and Media Exhibition 2010
Created on 11.6.2010
Art, Design and Media students at Newbury College showcased their work at the annual end of year exhibition held at the Monks Lane Campus. The show opened with a private view on Wednesday 9 June to invited guests from the Newbury creative community and friends and family of the learners. The Deputy Mayor of Newbury, Councillor Jeff Beck, and his wife also attended and had the opportunity to speak directly to the students to discuss their work and ask any questions.

The exhibition marked the end of the academic year and celebrated the hard work and achievements of the learners currently studying a full time creative course at Newbury College. Art work was displayed in the art studios and the ‘Street’ area of the College, which triggered many a conversation.
All areas of the creative courses were represented including BTEC first Diploma, first Certificate and National Diploma in Art and Design and the National Diploma in Interactive Media, with both 2D and 3D pieces on display alongside photography, film and print work.

Introductory Diploma learner Shantie Roper commented, “I am really excited about having my coursework on display and it would be great if someone actually bought a piece!”
The Art and Design department are always keen to provide the opportunity for the public to see learner’s work. Di Smith, Art and Design Lecturer, added, “This exhibition is a great opportunity for learners from all creative courses to work together and demonstrate just how talented they are, not only to family and friends but also to other college learners!”
