Newbury College held its annual Further Education Awards Evening on Friday where full time, Further Education learners received recognition for their hard work and achievements from local businesses.

The evening, which was held in National College’s Week, was attended by a number of local companies who sponsored the awards, including Keilor Quesada-Getgood and Emma Thomas from E.J.Business Consultants Ltd, Andrew Watts from Apple Print, Ian Axtion from Newbury Sound, Malcolm Waldren from MB Hair and Beauty, Katy Roome from Buck & Hickman and Louise Graham from Lou La Belle Fine Foods.

Anne Murdoch, Newbury College Principal hosted the evening and commented; “The evening was a wonderful opportunity for family and friends to celebrate with learners who had shown outstanding qualities in their work and have the drive to succeed in their chosen professions. Each award was sponsored bylocal company and the fact sponsors are from the types of businesses which our learners aspire to work for, adds to this important occasion.”

The ceremony included a drinks reception and light refreshments where Sponsors, Tutors, parents and friends celebrated with Leaners the success of their achievements.

Keiolor Qesada-Getgood, Director of E.J. Business Consultants LTD (Chartered Accountants) was delighted to be part of the event and said, “This is our second year of sponsoring the accountancy courses at Newbury College, and it was a real privilege to present the two awards in recognition of the students’ achievements. We feel it is important for local businesses to support young people who are putting a great deal of effort and commitment to improving their skills and knowledge. We were delighted to see the pride displayed by both students and their families when presented with the awards and look forward to next year’s event”.

Newbury College delivers a range of full time further education courses including a range of new courses coming in September 2010.
