Another Successful GCSE Results Day

Created on 27.8.2009

Newbury College students are again celebrating success in their GCSE exams this year. The Spanish results were exceptionally good with 100% pass rate and 83% A* grades!

The overall pass rate was 94% with Maths achieving a 92% pass rate. A number of students will be continuing their studies on to Level 3 courses at Newbury College and other education and training providers.

One delighted student was Kerry Chrisp who not only gained three distinctions in her Health and Social Care BTEC National Diploma, but also passed her GCSE Maths which has enabled her to accept a place at Oxford Brookes University.

“I went straight into work after secondary school, but at age 20 I decided I wanted to just go for it and study towards something I had a passion for – social care. Newbury College taught me that with hard work and commitment you can achieve your goals, and GCSE maths was the last hurdle to climb to get the University place I dreamed of. I am so excited”.

Director of Curriculum and Deputy Principal, Fadia Clarke commented, “We are very pleased with this year’s GCSE pass rate. This is the fourth year running we have had a 100% pass rate at GCSE Spanish. Our congratulations go to all our successful students and their tutors.”

The College offers a very wide range of full time courses including those that prepare young people for Higher Education or for the work place.
