Assessor, Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools

Newbury College requires Assessors in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools.
Our ideal candidate will be qualified to level 3 or beyond in the relevent field and be able to demonstrate vocational experience.
Please note a completed assessor award is an essential criterion.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Assess trainees and learners according to College polices and procedures. All assessing activity must comply with Lead Body requirements and standards. The Assessor must monitor, assess, review and record the progress of trainees / learners and keep appropriate records. The Assessor may be required to act as an Internal Verifier and to support other Assessors carrying out workplace assessments, or relevant administrative tasks / induction of new learners, etc.
2. Assessors will work closely with the trainee / learner and the work placement employer to ensure that the candidate training is integrated with their current work experience requirements. Trainees with special needs and/or personal problems are to be identified and referred to Learner Services for the appropriate support.
3. Assessors will liaise with the College Student Records and Exams department, Train to Gain Administrator / Train to Gain Contracts Manager to ensure candidates are registered with the appropriate awarding body (after a pre-agreed start to the course) and that all relevant scheme documentation is made available.
4. Assessors will ensure that all Health & Safety and Equal Opportunity programme course requirements are met for each learner.
5. Assessors will ensure correct information/documentation is with the NVQ Assessment co-ordinator, Train to Gain Administrator, Student Records and Exams Department following completion and assessment and that this is recorded and monitored to successful timely completion by all learners.
6. Assessors will adhere to all College policies and procedures including Equality, Diversity and Race Relations, Health and Safety.
7. Assessors will use the work books and training plans for the appropriate NVQ.
8. Assessors will need to ensure their own training qualifications meet the standard required by the Lead Body and if not, to achieve them within an agreed time with their lead trainer / line manager.
9. Assessors will attend relevant staff/assessor meetings/ training.
10. Assessors will carry out any other duties that are reasonable and within the level of responsibility for the post as determined by the Course Leader and Curriculum Manager.
