Mechanical Engineering, BTEC HNC Diploma
Overview
This is a professional qualification for those in or wishing to work within mechanical engineering.BTEC Higher National Certificates provide a nationally recognised qualification that offers career progression for those already in employment. The qualifications are undertaken by part-time learners studying over two years. Attendance is Friday afternoons and one evening a week. The qualification provides a thorough grounding in the key concepts and practical skills required by the sector with national recognition by employers. This is the first year of a two year programme.
Students studying for the HNC take various modules over the two year period including: mechanical principles and design. In addition, you will study units in Business and Management Techniques, Maths and Engineering Science (general modules common to Electronics as well as Mechanical courses) Thermodynamics, Quality Assurance and Advanced Computer Aided Design Techniques.

Entry to the course is normally via a National Certificate in Mechanical Engineering. You are probably already working in this area, or interested in making a move in that direction. Mature candidates that do not necessarily have the appropriate entry qualifications would be considered after being interviewed by the course leader.Qualifications
