Inspection/Testing of Electrical Equipment Certificate (PAT Testing)

Overview

PAT Testing or Portable Appliance Testing is the process by which electrical appliances are checked to see if they are safe. Suitable for any member of your organisation with responsibility for installing, maintaining or testing electrical appliances. Course Material Requirements.The candidate will require the following items from the start of the course:1.A copy of the current Code of Practice2.A non-programmable scientific calculator.3.One A4 lever arch file.4.One A4 lined notepad.5.Pens & highlighters6.Plastic bookmark tabs

After attending this course participants will have the ability to:
understand the organisations responsibilities under the Electricity at Work Regulations
identify and classify portable appliances
set up and maintain a regular system of testing
make and enforce judgements regarding the safety of an appliance
create and maintain a suitable system for recording test results

Assessment

For this qualification candidates will be required to successfully complete a City & Guilds 30-question multiple choice online (Gola) 1 - hour exam assessment and the assessment grading is designated as PASS or FAIL.The exam will take place late in the afternoon on the day of the course.Candidates are required to demonstrate an ability to inspect and test an item of Class I and Class II construction at the end of the course

Entry Requirements

There are NO formal entry requirements imposed by City & Guilds for candidates who are undertaking this particular qualification, however candidates should be able to demonstrate sufficient basic knowledge and/or experience in the subject areas concerned to ensure that they have both the opportunity and the potential to achieve.

The City & Guilds 2377-12 Qualification, (QCA Accreditation Number 100/4339/1). Code of Practice for in-service inspection and testing of electrical equipment (PAT)
