Childcare, Award, Certificate and Diploma
OverviewThe course introduces you to childcare. You will have experience in a setting as well as have class based activities. We offer lots of hands on experiencees during lessons and visit various course relevant places. The course involves attending tutorialsand an independant study session. The group has an LSA who attends all classes and is available for extra support when needed. This course is delivered in 14.5 hours per week. This course is eligible for SFA or EFA funding support.
The course covers a wide range of topics such as Growth and Development, Play and Leisure Activities in the community, Health and Safety, Healthy Living, Understanding Play for Learning, Dealing with Challenges, Developing Self, Managing Own Money, Contributing to a team, and Healthy Eating.
Functional skills in Maths and English are run alongside the childcare qualification.
Gaining the Diploma will enable you to prgress onto the L2 childcare qualification, this could be full time at college or through an apprenticeship scheme.
ProgressionUpon successful completion you will be able to progress onto a L2 course or an apprenticeship.
AssessmentMini assignments are carried out throughout the course.Functional Skills exams are taken when the learner is ready.
Entry Requirements4 GCSE's grade E-G. A clean CRB check is obligatory.
QualificationsAward/Certificate/Diploma in Caring for Children
Home Study1 hour per week.
SkillsNo previous childcare experience needed.
Work PlacementThere will be 3 placements throughout the year.
Additional CostsCourse book 16.99. Uniform approx 25. CRB check approx 63. You will be required to provide your own pens, pencils, glue, scissors, paper. We do run an end of year trip which may have a cost, the cost is dependant on where we go.
