Happy Birth with the Alexander Technique
Overview
The aim of this course is to teach learners how to have an active and natural pregnancy and birth using the Alexander Technique. This course is designed for women in the second and third trimester of pregnancy and their partners. Learners should bring the following to the workshop: blanket, sleeping bag, 2/3 paper back books and a small cushion. Learners should wear loose, comfortable clothing that they can move around in easily.The aim of this course is to teach learners how to have an active and natural pregnancy and birth, using the Alexander Technique. Learners will be taught the principle of the Alexander Technique and shown some gentle exercises and positions to maximise rest and release habitual tension. The session will also include exercises to help reduce anxiety and promote maximum physical function during pregnancy and beyond. The aim of the session is give the expectant mother and father confidence in their abilities to enjoy this precious time.
*PLEASE NOTE- The running of this course is subject to receiving sufficient enrolment numbers. Newbury College reserve the right to close, cancel or postpone a course if it has not received the minimum required enrolment number by the scheduled start date. In the case of cancellation, enrolled learners will be notified 3 days prior to the start of the course and are entitled to claim for a full refund of their course fees.
Assessment
Informal assessment will be carried out through group discussion, observation and lecturer feedback.Entry Requirements
The expectant mother should be at least 3 months into her pregnancy.Qualifications

Work Placement
