Making Pasta with an Italian Chef

Overview

This course is designed for anyone wishing to learn more about pasta making. Discover how to make coloured pasta, lasagne and ravioli, with lots of techniques, tips and secrets for creating the perfect Italian pasta. Learners will need to bring the following to their workshop; all required ingredients, a tea towel/ apron if needed, a container to take food home with them, a pasta machine if they have one and a notepad and pen to take notes if desired.

Over the duration of the workshop we discover how to make coloured pasta, lasagne and ravioli, with lots of techniques, tips and secrets revealed for creating the perfect Italian pasta! We will look at all the different possible dough's and flours that can be used to make pasta and the different results each one gives. We will look at kneading and the best techniques on how to knead. Then comes the cooking and we will discover the different ways of cooking pasta and seasoning the finished results.

By the end of the workshop learners will be able to create the perfect pasta with their eyes closed!

This course is delivered by Orsola Magic. Orsola has over 12 years experience as a Chef, both in Milan and the UK, cooking and creating dishes for all types of events and settings. An accomplished Chef Patissier, Orsola has cooked for many VIPs, including royalty, Michael Schumacher and the Archbishop of Canterbury! Orsola has now been teaching in the UK for several years, alongside running her own successful catering business, and has many years of experience teaching cooking to both children and adults, beginners and professionals.

*PLEASE NOTE- The running of this course is subject to receiving sufficient enrolment numbers. Newbury College reserve the right to close, cancel or postpone a course if it has not received the minimum required enrolment number by the scheduled start date. In the case of cancellation, enrolled learners will be notified 3 days prior to the start of the course and are entitled to claim for a full refund of their course fees.

Progression

Learners can progress onto the longer 8 week 'Learn to Cook Authentic Italian Cuisine' course.

Assessment

Learners will be assessed through tutor observation and feedback.

There are no formal entry requirements to this course.

This course does not lead to a formal qualification.

Work Placement

Learners do not need to be in relevant work to undertake this course.

Additional Costs

Learners will be required to purchase all the ingredients needed for the course- a list will be sent out after enrolment. Learners will also be required to pay a small 3.00 material fee, which will cover the cost of the materials used by the tutor for demonstration purposes.
