Bite Size: Rag-Rug Making
Overview
An introduction to the technique of rag rugging, this workshop will inspire learners to recycle their old clothes and materials whilst being creative. Learners may wish to bring the following to the session (although this is optional); their own old (clean) clothes, textiles, wool, leather, plastic bags etc, which they would like to recycle, and work with they should have a more personal touch to the items they create.By the end of the course Learners will be able to:
- Master the technique of hooking as well as another one of their choice.
- Everyone will have a small square of rag-rugged netting to take home.
The course will include;
- Tutor demonstrations
- Hands-on practical approach and practice.
- Handouts for more information on the techniques and useful references for further learning.
*PLEASE NOTE- This course running is subject to receiving a minimum of 6 enrolments. Newbury College reserve the right to close, cancel or postpone a course if it has not received the minimum required enrolment number by the scheduled start date. In the case of cancellation, enrolled learners will be notified 3 days prior to the start of the course and are entitled to claim for a full refund of their course fees.
Progression
The tutor will be able to advice on the correct path of progression for the individual.Assessment
Learners will be assessed through observation of the progress, speed and the quality of the work created. The tutor will also observe body language and communication that happens in the classroom. To record the achievements the tutor will use a digital camera to photograph the final product.Entry Requirements
There are no formal entry requirements for this course, just a willingness to learn. An open mind and playful and willing fingers will be advantage to the progress.Qualifications

Work Placement
Learners do not need to be in relevant work to undertake this course.Additional Costs
