Flower Arranging - Intermediate Level

Overview

Increase your flower arranging skill to its full potential by learning how to manipulate leaves, grasses and accessories and adding them to your flowers to create exciting and professional arrangements. Not suitable for complete beginners. Learners will be required to bring the following to the first class; pen, notebook, table covering (either newspaper or plastic), scissors suitable for cutting plant material, tool box of basic items (sharp knife, floral tape, floral foam) required for flower arranging, and all flowers/ foliage (a detailed list of materials will be sent out to learners before the first lesson)

This course is designed for those learners who have completed the 'Flower Arranging for Beginners' course or for those learners with experience in Flower Arranging looking to further increase their skills.

The course will consist of the following;
- An introduction to advanced Flower Arranging
- An introduction to each technique
- Step by Step instructions
- Tutor demonstrations
- Individual and group work

Over the period on the course we will cover the following;
1...Modern Vase Limited Line arrangement using tropical flowers and leaves
2...Hogarth Curve..Using flower in an unusual shape vase
3...Buttonhole and corsage - modern and traditional
4...Parrallel and vegetative arrangements
5...Topiary Tree
6...Head to head posy - presented in a gift bag
7...Handtied modern limited line and wrapping
8...Recap and students choice.

*PLEASE NOTE- This course running is subject to receiving a minimum of 8 enrolments. Newbury College reserve the right to close, cancel or postpone a course if it has not received the minimum required enrolment number by the scheduled start date. In the case of cancellation, enrolled learners will be notified 3 days prior to the start of the course and are entitled to claim for a full refund of their course fees.

Assessment

Learners will be assessed through tutor observation, feedback and role playing exercises.

Entry Requirements

Previous flower arranging experience at basic level required

Qualifications

This course does not lead to a formal qualifiaction.

Home Study

Learners will be required to collect the flowers and foliage needed for each week.

Skills

Work Placement

Learners do not need to be in relevant work to undertake this course.

Additional Costs

Learners will be required to pay an additional 6.00 materials fee on enrolment; this will cover the cost of all the materials used by the tutor for demonstration purposes. Learners will also be required to purchase their own flowers each week.
