Liven up Your Still Life

Overview

This course is for anyone looking to give oils a try, push some boundaries, loosen up or just have some creative outlet with the chance to use bold colours, shapes and composition. The tutor will aim to provide all the paints, brushes and materials, however if learners own their own supplies it would be useful for them to bring them to the session. Learners will also need to bring a sketching easel if possible although the tutor can provide up to five if needed. Please contact the college prior to enrolling if you require the use of an easel.

This workshop is designed for learners with little or no experience in oil painting who would like to try out the medium.

During the 3 hour workshop, we will be looking to achieve the following techniques;
- Drawing with the brush
- Mixing bold colours from three primaries
- Brush strokes and use of knife.
We will be painting sunflowers if available,

The course will consist of examples of the tutor's own work, explanations, demonstrations, and much personal help.


*PLEASE NOTE- This course running is subject to receiving a minimum of 6 enrolments. Newbury College reserve the right to close, cancel or postpone a course if it has not received the minimum required enrolment number by the scheduled start date. In the case of cancellation, enrolled learners will be notified 3 days prior to the start of the course and are entitled to claim for a full refund of their course fees.

Progression

Learners can progress onto the longer 'Oil Painting' course, or other art classes at Newbury College. The tutor will be able to give advice on the correct progression path for the individual.

Assessment

Learners will be assessed through tutor observation and feedback, both group and one-to-one guidance.

There are no formal entry requirements for this course.

Qualifications

This course does not lead to a formal qualification.

Skills

This course is for learners of all artist ability.

Work Placement

Learners do not need to be in relevant work to undertake this course.

Additional Costs

Learners will be required to pay an additional fee of 3.00, payable at enrolment. This fee covers the cost of the oils and other art materilals used for the session.
