Drawing and Painting - All Levels
Overview
This course will provide learners with the opportunity to develop their drawing and painting skills, whilst working towards independently led works of art that incorporate their wider interests. Suitable for learners if all levels and abilities. Learners will need to bring the following with them to each class, Pens, a range of graphite and colour pencils, erasure charcoal, watercolours, paintbrushes, and an A4/ A3 sketchbook.The Drawing & Painting course will provide learners with the opportunity to apply learning and understanding from previous courses or from other Drawing & Painting experience. Learners will work towards independently led works of art that incorporate their wider interests; the tutor will support them with technical and critical advice through one-to-ones and demonstrations.
Term A
Techniques: mark making, exploration of media, drawing and painting techniques. Subject: Exploration of the figure, human and animal.
Term B
Techniques: Perspective, composition, size and scale, shading and tone, texture, painting with layers, monochrome. Subject: Architecture, and man-made structures.
Term C
Techniques: further developing a visual language, communicating ideas and feelings, collage, expressive colour. Subject: Still life, Portraiture human & animal
Term D
Techniques: Experimental painting and drawing, sketching, critical attitudes, drawing outside. Subject: landscape, abstraction.
*PLEASE NOTE- This course running is subject to receiving a minimum of 8 enrolments. Newbury College reserve the right to close, cancel or postpone a course if it has not received the minimum required enrolment number by the scheduled start date. In the case of cancellation, enrolled learners will be notified 3 days prior to the start of the course and are entitled to claim for a full refund of their course fees.
Progression
Each term will cover new subjects and techniques; therefore learners can progress through the year. Each new term will also be open to new learners.Assessment

Homework for this course is not mandatory, although learners will benefit from practising the skills learnt in class, at home.Work Placement
