Access to Learning Fund (ALF)

The fund is made available to learners to provide discretionary financial help for both full and part time undergraduate and postgraduate learners. The aim of the fund is to support vulnerable learners, in particular to help them access and remain in higher education. It may be used:

· to assist those who need extra financial help to meet particular costs which are not already being met from statutory (or other) schemes of funding

· to intervene in cases where a learner may be considering learning higher education because of financial problems

· to alleviate cases of financial hardship

· to meet unexpected financial crisis.
